University Oval

The University Oval complex at the University of Sydney is one of the university's most important and historic sporting grounds, located on the university's main campus in Camperdown. The complex consists of two main grounds, University Oval No. 1 and University Oval No. 2, which are used extensively for training and matches by the university's sports teams and for international competitions. Ground No. 1 is particularly suited to cricket and Australian rules football, while Ground No. 2 is the new home of the University of Sydney rugby team, as well as being used for football and cricket.

Programs & Activities

  1. Sydney University American Football Club: The team trains at St Andrews Oval and St Johns Oval. The Division 1 season runs from early September to mid-December, and the Sydney Uni Cubs play from mid-February to mid-May.
  2. Indigenous Games and Sports Program: This program introduces students to the games and sports of Australia’s indigenous people. This program is part of the second semester welcome program.
  3. Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness (SUSF) Program: This program offers a variety of classes including running, swimming, tennis, golf, hockey, soccer, rugby, sailing, diving, skiing, and more. These classes are suitable for beginners to advanced levels.
  4. Sydney University Short Courses: These courses are held at various locations across Sydney and allow students and interested parties to take part in specialist classes.
  5. Indigenous Games and Sports Program: This program gives students the opportunity to learn about Indigenous Australian games and sports and experience part of the country's rich culture.
