John Innes Community Recreation Centre

The John Innes Community Recreation Centre, located in Toronto's Moss Park neighbourhood, is currently undergoing a modern redesign. The four-storey, 75,000-square-foot facility includes a six-lane (25-metre) lap pool, a lap pool, a double gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, community service spaces, a public rooftop terrace, and an indoor running track.


Programs & Activities

1. Multi-Sport and Drop-In Programs

  • Multi-Sport with Family (5+): Every Friday 12:00-2:30
  • Open Gym (16+): Monday-Friday 13:30-3:30
  • Open Gym with Family (1+): Weekends 12:30-4:45


2. Racer Sports Classes (Badminton)

  • Badminton (16+): Saturdays 13:15 or 13:30-4:45, and some weeks Monday nights 20:00-21:30


3. Social and Recreation Programs

  • Club: Social (60+): Fridays 10:00-12:00
  • Recreation Fun and Play with Caregiver (5+): Fridays 9:30-11:30
  • Youth Council (13–18): Thursdays 16:30-6:00
  • Youth Zone (13–24): Tuesday and Thursday, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Saturday, 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM


4. Group Activities and Games

  • Games sessions for adults (19+), Fridays, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Also, games classes for children ages 6 to 12, Saturdays, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • And games activities for adults ages 16 and up, Saturdays, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM


5. Active8 program for adults with special developmental needs

  • Includes a variety of activities such as nutrition, group games, crafts, swimming, workshops, hiking, drama, and group sports
  • For ages 19+, costs about $35 to $45 per 9-week session, Tuesdays, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

  • Green Space Connection: Access to surrounding park with walking space, community garden, play areas, splash pad, and other outdoor activities.
  • Accessibility and modern technologies: Wi-Fi throughout the center and changing rooms and restrooms with unisex access.


Booking & Pricing Information

  1. Create an online account or activate an existing account: Starting in November 2024, the City of Toronto’s new online system for registering for programs, reserving spaces, and purchasing memberships will be available. If you already have an account in the old system (eFun), you will need to create or activate it.
  2. Log in to Facility Booking: After logging in, go to the “Book a facility” or “Facility Booking” section. This section is for booking spaces such as halls, pools, sports fields, and other community facilities.
  3. Choose a booking type: One-time or seasonal: You can book for a one-time booking — perfect for special events like birthdays, photo shoots, or meetings — or for seasonal trends and leagues (Seasonal & League Booking).
  4. Check availability and submit a booking request: Select the time or space you’re interested in in the system. If available, the next steps include completing a form, paying a fee (if required), and receiving confirmation. If necessary, a call from the authorities may be required to complete the reservation.
  5. You can also request a phone call or in person: If you have trouble booking online or need further assistance, you can do so by calling or visiting an official call center—for example, through the 311 system or customer service center.
