Mattamy Athletic Centre
The Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC), located in the historic Maple Leaf Gardens building on Carlton Street, is one of Toronto's most recognizable athletic facilities, operated by Toronto Metropolitan University. It features the Mattamy Home Ice, a 2,600-seat ice rink that hosts the TMU Bold men's and women's hockey teams.
The second floor also features a multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of approximately 1,000 for basketball and volleyball matches. In addition, the centre features a fitness centre equipped with cardio machines, free weights and a training studio. The modern space also includes team rooms, a meeting room, a café, multi-purpose spaces and a Loblaws store on the ground floor.

Programs & Activities
- Professional Women's Hockey (PWHL Toronto): The professional women's hockey team in the PWHL will play its home games at the Mattamy Athletic Centre starting in January 2024.
- TMU Bold Varsity Teams: This complex hosts the university's official teams, including men's and women's hockey, basketball, and volleyball, which compete in different seasons.
- Shinny Hockey and Open Court: Shinny Hockey sessions (non-contact) are offered to faculty, students, and members of the University Fitness Center and are free of charge.
- Open Court hours are also available to the university community for free basketball or volleyball play.
- Ice and Court Rentals: Ice is available for hourly rentals for a variety of programs and practices, with amenities such as a scoreboard, sound system, and locker rooms.
- Varsity Court is also available for rent for basketball and volleyball.
- Meeting and event space rentals: The complex features venues such as Jet Ice Lounge and The Lookout that can be booked for events, meetings or banquets.

How to make a reservation at Mattamy Athletic Centre
1. Mattamy Homes Ice:
- First, check the availability of times by clicking “Check Availability” on the ice calendar. The calendar is updated weekly.
- You can then book the ice instantly by clicking “Book Now” on the CatchCorner platform (powered by Sports Illustrated).
2. Varsity Court:
- To reserve this space, you must first complete the Court Rental Request Form; note: “COMPLETING THIS FORM DOES NOT CONFIRM A BOOKING.”
- Once you submit the form, like the Ice Arena, it will likely be available through a cross-platform similar to the “Book Now” feature.
3. Other Special Spaces
- To rent spaces such as the Meeting Rooms or Jet Ice Lounge, a Room Rental Request Form (and for larger events, a Special Event Rental Request Form) must be completed; completing these forms is the first step to booking.
- After your request is reviewed by the MAC team, you will be able to continue booking or click the “Book Now” link for final confirmation.
