Hillcrest Park

Hillcrest Park in Vancouver is a large, multi-purpose recreational and sports complex that combines nature with modern indoor facilities. The outdoor area includes several baseball diamonds, a soccer field, a walking and jogging path, and green space. The indoor Hillcrest Centre features a swimming pool, a gym, a multi-sports hall, an ice rink, and support facilities such as multi-purpose rooms, a daycare center, and a coffee shop. In addition to badminton, sports such as ice hockey, curling, swimming, bodybuilding, and field sports (such as soccer and baseball) are available at the complex.

1. Sample Classes/Programs

  • Acrylic Painting: For adults, held in the 320 Multipurpose Room.
  • Traditional Chinese Dance: For seniors, held in the dance studio inside the center.
  • Yoga / Zumba / HIIT / Strength & Conditioning: Several fitness and health classes such as yoga, Zumba, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and strength training are offered for adults.
  • Tae Kwon Do: Martial arts for children and teens (e.g., ages 5-19) in dedicated rooms.
  • Preschool Sports / Sportball / Indoor Soccer / Floor Hockey: For younger ages (kindergarten and preschool), basic sports activities such as indoor soccer, floor hockey, Sportball, etc.


2. Active Leagues or Tournaments

  • Pacific Rim Curling League: The Vancouver Curling Club at Hillcrest Centre is a member of this league and the curling tournament is held at the center.
  • Little Mountain Baseball / Local Baseball Leagues: In Hillcrest Park, the Little Mountain Baseball League has its own field and clubhouse.

Reservation Steps

  1. First, you need to check if the space you are interested in (e.g., hall, multi-purpose room, gym) is available on that date. To do this, visit the Room Rentals page on the Hillcrest website and check the availability of hours and days.
  2. In the Room Rentals section of the Hillcrest Community Centre website, there is a link to an “Online Rental Request” where you can fill out a request form.
  3. If the space is suitable and the request is approved, a contract will be drawn up between the renter and the centre.
  4. You will usually be required to pay a refundable deposit to reserve your space.
  5. The full rental fee is usually due to the centre two weeks before the event date.
  6. For public events or classes that are publicly advertised or charge an admission fee, the rules are different. A separate application may need to be made.
  7. The Gymnasium can only be rented for athletic activities; unrelated furniture or equipment is usually not permitted.
