Seneca Sports Centre

Seneca Sports Centre is a multi-purpose sports and recreation centre on the Newnham campus of Seneca Polytechnic. It includes a full ice rink, triple gym, six tennis courts, a softball court, two beach volleyball courts, a football pitch and a fitness centre with a dance studio. In addition to formal sports, the centre is also equipped with facilities for recreational activities such as intramural sports and recreational competitions.


Programs & Activities

  • Intramural Programs: Includes leagues, classes, and friendly competitions in sports such as soccer (indoor and outdoor), basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, cricket, tennis, bowling, rugby, etc.
  • Varsity Teams: Seneca University fields competitive teams in sports such as soccer (indoor & outdoor), basketball, volleyball, rugby, track and field, skating, softball, and badminton.
  • Extramural Programs: Opportunities to participate in off-campus camps and tryouts for sports such as soccer, cricket, and hockey (both men and women).
  • Fitness Classes and Programs: Drop-in sessions, classes such as “Intro to Fitness,” and seasonal sports programs are offered; No registration required and no fee for full-time students.
  • Special recreational programs for women: Includes various classes and activities such as windsurfing, soccer, volleyball, cricket, and evening sports programs aimed at promoting women's participation in sports.

  • Multi-Purpose Athletics: The complex includes: Triple Gymnasium, Fitness Center and Dance Studio, Soccer Field, Turf Field, Softball Field, 2 Beach Volleyball Courts, Outdoor Basketball Court, and a Full Ice Arena.
  • Locker Room and Support Spaces: Includes four team rooms, two main locker rooms, and two staff and referee rooms. These spaces are available for teams and competitive programs.
  • Restrooms and Showers: Use of the athletic facilities requires registration, a signed waiver, and a Seneca OneCard; locker rooms, showers, and lockers are available.
  • Parking and Vehicle Access: Public parking is available on site for a daily fee. In addition, free bus parking is available nearby.

1. Membership Registration: Only full-time Seneca students are allowed to use the facilities for free and part-time employees/students are allowed to use the facilities for a fee per semester. Before use, a registration and waiver form must be signed and an ID card (OneCard) must be brought.

2. Install the app or use the online portal: Users (especially employees) can use the Seneca Athletics & Recreation app or web portal to register, view hours, and schedule activities. Semester memberships are also available.

3. Check Hours and Access: Facility hours are:

  • Gymnasium: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Pleasure Skating: Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM / Shinny Hockey: 2:40 PM to 4:50 PM
  • Outdoor Courts and Areas: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM


4. Access to Facilities: With an active membership and OneCard, you can use the halls, gyms, ice arena, or outdoor courts during designated hours.

5. Participate in Programs and Classes: When you sign up for a membership, you will have access to programs such as classes, Intramural/Extramural leagues, Varsity workouts, and fitness sessions.

FAQs

Can I enter if I don't have a OneCard?

No; it is not possible to use the sports facilities without having a OneCard and registering in the system.
