Driftwood Community Recreation Centre

Driftwood Community Recreation Centre, located at 4401 Jane Street, North York, Toronto, is a priority centre for the City of Toronto and offers a wide range of facilities including an indoor gym, outdoor pool, outdoor basketball court and play area. The centre is approximately 75,000 square feet and has six multi-purpose rooms, two computer labs, two recreation staff offices and a full gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and group activities.

In addition, sports such as basketball are offered as drop-in or registration programs for youth and adults; many of these programs include drop-in sessions on select nights. The complex also offers an outdoor pool, team room reservations and arts and culture programs. The centre is also listed as a Free & Lower-Cost centre in Toronto and offers many drop-in programs, including basketball for children and youth at no cost and with a Welcome Policy.


Programs & Activities

1. Basketball

  • EYS-D Basketball: For teens ages 13–24, every Friday from 4–6:30 p.m. This program is part of the center’s social activities and is held on a drop-in basis.


2. Ball Hockey

  • Drop-in Ball Hockey & Soccer: No-registration programs for adults are held in the center’s wooden hall on Wednesdays and Thursdays.


3. Badminton, Pickleball, and Table Tennis

  • Badminton for 17-19 year olds: Fridays 7:30–8:30 p.m. and 8:30–10 p.m.
  • Pickleball for 19+: Tuesdays and Thursdays 1–3 p.m.; Saturdays 12–2 p.m.
  • Table Tennis for adults (19+): Thursdays 6–9 p.m.


4. Youth Activities and Education

  • Content programs such as music, DJing, cooking, and play space for teens ages 13–24 run on Saturday and Sunday afternoons through evenings. Some programs also include team sports.


5. Sports Drop-in Reservations

  • Sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, football, and more are offered on a drop-in basis. For adults, a Day Pass costs about $4.30 ($2.16 for seniors). Multiple-entry passes can be used to book multiple sessions.

1. Create or activate an account for online registration

  • To reserve a venue, register for sports programs, and receive a Day Pass, you will need an account on Toronto Online Registration & Booking. If you already have an account, you will need to activate it, otherwise, you will need to register.


2. Choose a booking or registration type

  • Drop-in Sports & Activities: You can register for specific days through the system to attend programs such as basketball, badminton, pickleball, etc. It is often free or very low-cost for Toronto residents ($4.30 or less)
  • One-Time Booking (one-time booking for a venue or room): If you plan to rent the venue for a competition, birthday, or team event, use the One-Time Booking section of the city’s platform. Facilities include a gym, multi-purpose room, kitchen, and more.


3. Steps to make an online booking or registration

  • Log in to your account.
  • Use the “Activities” option to register for drop-in programs or “Book a space” to reserve a space.
  • Select the desired day and time and fill in the necessary details (e.g. number of participants, type of activity).
  • If payment is required, pay the fee online. You will receive a confirmation of your registration or reservation via email.


4. Important booking tips

  • Drop-in programs: Most are for sports such as basketball, pickleball, badminton, table tennis at specific times (e.g. evenings or nights). Often free or very low-cost for Toronto residents.
  • Reserve a private space: Fees vary depending on the type of space booked (gym, multi-purpose room); typically up to $400 per hour depending on needs and conditions.
